| although it doesnt really matter according to the monks but how did we get here according to Buddhism? through evolution? or what they never really explained...they just said it doesnt matter, only the present matters | |

Well, your lifestyle now which is the present is depended from your past life. And the reason why the monks are saying that the present matters is because your next life is dependent upon your present life. So if you do good deeds and live good all that good action will be reward in your next life. For example, if you waste food and water or money right now in your present life, you'll probably be born into Africa where it's a poor country with low quantity of food and water. Therefore you should be thankful of what you have now(present) and try to take that further to help you have another good life(next life).
